Re: Mark Noble
Thing is, football isn't about your best XI individuals its about getting the right blend of XI players. The tikka takka Barcelona team had Xavi and indiesta and messi, but still needed bustiers doing his thing too. You need the water carriers as well as the superstars.

What I don't understand with england is we have tried loads of combinations of the same group of players that don't work, we'll spend years trying to force things like getting Gerrard and lampard to work in the middle, Wilshere just had to be able to stand to get called up, coldbeck gets the nod from nowhere, yet someone like Noble who is consistent and reliable is totally ignored every time.

Hodgson has the perfect opportunity in this group to try lots of other options (looking at it a different way, if noble was oicjed and played tonight, would he make us lose? Of course not - but he might click with the players around him) but we still stick to the same tired, useless selections. You only have to pull on a Man U/Liverpool/ Spurs shirt to get called up regardless even if you're shit (see cleverly, who was ditched as soon as he left Man U even though he arguably hasn't been any worse) yet players outside the big teams are largely ignored

Someone tell Kaka to give Davies his Dolly Mixtures, I'm not sure I can handle any more of his desperate cries for attention.

Stewart Downing getting 40 isn't far off, in fairness

Re: Mark Noble
Indeed Griff, and Jack Colback got a call up didn't he? Again, I'm not up in arms about Noble not getting a call, but I'd have him in my side above Livermore & Colback every day of the week.

And although it's a different position, I'd put Jagielka getting 34 England caps up there with Carlton Palmer.

Re: Mark Noble
I wouldn't say he was top international standard, and am not clamouring for him to be called up. The thing is, when you see players like Cleverly, Delph, Shelvey being given a chance, I think a lad with 40 odd U21 caps (mainly as captain), who has been a very consistent performer for us, probably deserves a call up.

You never know, because the pace of the game is slower, and it's more about ball retention, he might just take to it. Look at someone like Vassell, he was a bang average player for Villa, got picked for England, and looked a completely different player, not phased by it at all.

Yep, and informed us that Blair Turgott would return from his loan at Bradford as a first team player for us. That was two years ago. At Coventry now.
